Question #6: I had a contractor qoute on a cement job that I had required. I had given up $ 5, 400.00 as agreed upon when the contract was written. The job started and stopped. When trying to conact the contractor numerous amount of promises and reasons were given to me. No work was done. Now the contact number is out of service. How do I get my money back? How do I make sure this person does not pull the same scam with anyone else??

1. Contact the BBB in your area and register a complaint.
2. Start a small claims action against the owner of the company and the company itself, when you have a judgment (which you will get as the Owner of the company won't show) give it to a collection agency to follow thru on. The collection agency can also have that added to the Individual's credit report as a public record.
3. Call the Police Department in your jurisdiction and advise them that you want to report the incident for records and information purposes, after all it was a fraud/theft.
4. In future make it a practice to only deal with BBB approved members. Good luck!
